Remember this?
« on: April 11, 2010, 09:53:00 AM »
I donated it to the PBS Banquet recently held in Nashville, Tenn.  All three items signed and mounted in a shadowbox.  Guess what it sold for?  Hint...the bidding was in increments of $100.

All I can tell you is that my wife liked to have croaked when she asked later that evening...and I had to tell her.   :)

You are pretty danged close.  It sold for an even $3,000.

Mike Dhaemers and I were sitting together after our wives had left and we thought it might go for, maybe $800, and were most surprised at the results.

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Hey guys.  Guess what I've got??  I'll give you a hint.  It cost me $3,000.00 bucks, but it was worth every penny.  This guy setting in front of me just wouldn't quit putting his arm up! LOL  I had to finally grab his arm and hold it down.  You should have seen the look on his face!

Russell, Thanks for not bidding any more.  I received your letter just before we left for the KY Klassic.  I briefly read it before we left.  I'll be getting back to you.

Sounds like their was almost two deaths that night.. Cliff's wife croaking and Me!  My wife was sitting right next to me.....Update:  we are still speaking, just kidding, she was happy for me as well.  She's bought me Fred bear stuff in the past.

The Fred Bear shadow box is now hanging in a very respectful position in my "archery" den.  Fred Bear has been my hero for over 40 years.

Thanks again, roofleakfixer.

Stephen.  PM me your mailing address.  I have a few Bear items you may enjoy and will send them for being so generous at the Banquet.  I will also provide a chain of custody on the items and some information of the archer who was given the items from Fred Bear.  The arrow was actually one of Fred's personal arrows and you can see the broadhead had been sharpened a time or two.

Again, thanks for your generosity.

Cliff- I was at the table with the winner when it sold. Great gesture on everybody's part. The "Ol' Man" would have been so very proud of both you and Steve.    Grant

Wow the generosity is overwhelming on both your parts-especially you Cliff. Just think what it might have fetched in a good economy!  :bigsmyl:
