String for a 64 inch 1960 Kodiak
« on: April 11, 2010, 05:04:00 PM »
I just got my 64 inch 1960 Kodiak back from the Bow Hospital and Mr. Whip did a fine job on the refinish and filling of holes. I am extremely happy.

I strung the bow up and I am not sure I have the correct string.  It is almost completely untwisted and I can only get the brace height down to about 9 1/4.  That seems awfully high to me, but I wanted to see what you experts think.

Sounds like the string is too short! LOL
String length needs to be about 60" for a 64" recurve, I just measured mine.......60".
Enjoy the bow and post a pic!

Thanks.  I got one from 3 Rivers and the bow shoots like a dream.

What brace height do you boys use on your 64", 1960 Kodiaks?

I have a 64" Kodiak from 1959 (which is very similar to the 1960) and I have it shooting pretty good at 8.25".

Many folks believe a brace from 7.5"-8.5" works pretty well, but some experimenting will tell you for sure what's best for your bow, arrows, and shooting style.

I love those 1960 Kodiaks, both in looks and performance.

Now, show us some pics of that bow, ok?
