I recently received my Yellowstone Halfbreed, a 3 pc. takedown longbow, from Rich Wormington, bowyer of Yellowstone Bows. It is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship with a fit and finish equal to or better than any bow I have owned/seen. Only problem was I couldn't get an arrow to fly well from this bow. I have 2 sets of limbs, one is 54#@28" and the second set is 57#@28". I usually have no problem tuning up a new bow and I was really getting frustrated. I finally picked up a set of lighter spined arrows from a friend and they were hitting where I was looking, but after getting another friend to watch my arrow flight, I found that they were still doing some cork screwing on the way to the target.
I emailed Rich and explained the problem. He answered me back with some suggestions and some questions of his own and then called me the next evening. He told me to try his suggestions and if I didn't get any positive results, that he would send me an "in-stock" bow in the same weight range as mine, so that we could determine if the problem was the bow or me! Rich said that he would do "whatever it takes" to get the problem resolved, modifying my riser, or even making me a new riser if neccessary! I took Rich's suggestions and where I couldn't get any of my arrows to fly before, I can group them all pretty well now. There is still some work to be done, but the main problem was with the "nut that holds the handle" (ME)!
I was just really impressed with Rich. Not just the beauty of the bow, but his willingness to make things right and to make a customer happy. If you're looking for a new longbow that is handcrafted and comes with a customer satisfaction program that can't be beat, take a look at Yellowstone Bows! Mike
