160# longbow!
« on: June 25, 2010, 12:47:00 PM »
First of all, I appologize if this is breaking Tradgang policy. I know EB items are only allowed here for old bow alerts but I thought this would be interesting for all. If it is a violation, please delete and I'll take the hit     :knothead:

Also, its not mine nor do I have any connection with the item.

Having said that, here is a 160# longbow from the 80s. Very interesting. I have never heard of the bowyer but the BIN price seems high unless the collector value is something I am not seeing.

I would think think the uniqueness is the poundage which could be made today.

BD, you got that right!  Gary Sentman and Chief AJ are almost as old as me.

How about one of Howard Hill's old flight bows he used to use whe he was competing. Now that would be a prize to have.

I seem to remember a Don Surgess from some wheres in  Utah, maybe worked for Carrell Archery back in the late 60 early 70, don't know if that was the man or not, maybe it will ring a bell with some one.  :archer2:

I see that this bow has been re-listed on **** at least twice for a reduce price of $500.  I asked for more info but all I got was that Don Surgess was a well known bowyer.
Asking price aside it is an interesting piece.  If anyone has any info on the bow or the bowyer I would like to hear from you.
  Thanks
Jim Bob

Yes I got a 160# hill longbow. Infact I have 4 bows beyond that weight!  Like bow doc said if that bow was a world record! Even in a flightshoot! It would be worth more!
