Bear A riser vs B riser

OK...I've already made my Christmas list for my wife...new Bear TK (w/ red stripe).  The question is A or B riser.  Please give me the pro's and cons of both.  My draw length is about 29 1/2".

B= more accuracy,forgiviness and more quiet
A= better look,more manouvrable.
Love them both,why have I to choose,damn.

The longer riser (B) is more comfortable for those with longer draw lengths.

Stacking happens with long draw lengths in short bows.

I have 3 'B' handles and a 29 inch draw length.

I tried the 'A' handle but did not like the increased draw effort of the A handle.

Just my opinion and experience.

I have A's.I draw 27.5" and #1 limbs making a 56" bow. the B riser just feels huge to me when I shoot it....just too much riser for me ..the A fits me better.

Fred Bear used the B with #1 limbs. I'll bet he liked it for a darn good reason.
I own 4 Bear TDs -- one B and three A risers. Right now I am shooting the B and it is very stable and smooth and accurate.
You can't go wrong with either one, and you will probably own both an A and a B at some point. For a first one I would recommend the B with #1 limbs.

Michael, I have your draw length; own A's and B's.  I enjoy shooting a 64" B.   I can shoot a 60" A.  I prefer the longer limbs on the Bears.  If you snap shoot like Fred and don't really get the 29 1/2" draw you can shoot the shorter limb bows.  I know I do.  But if I want to get in the Rod Jenkins groove and get her back and anchor, the 64"er is a dream. With your draw length, I think you would be happier with the 60-64" lengths available with the B handle.  Works for me and my way.

You' dbe surprised how well an "A" riser with # 3 limbs shoots.  Kinda picks up the positive characteristics of the "B" riser, but those long # 3 limbs can be really a lot smoother.

Mr Salad I can see no other oppsion but to have her get you one of each......and then you can tell us what you think.I got all 3 A-B-C and limbs 1-2-3 and I still can't decide which one I like best but then I've only been testing them for about 35 years and I still can't decide.I'll keep up the testing and keep ya posted iffen I figure something out bro.But do they are get your wife to get ya one of each bd

So Doc, in your expert opinion, what's the better shooter...wood or mag riser?

I shoot B risers, primarily a Style I and I'm more comfortable with the B riser, #1 limb combo than I am with others but that could be because that's what I have used pretty much exclusively for over thirty-five years. I currently own an A mag and various sets of all three limb lengths and I don't have a serious complaint with any configuration though I find my 60" B setup to be a little quicker; but its only a little and I would suggest you decide which feels best to you. Unless a bow is a real dog performance wise I think feel is more important than just about any other factor, especially for instinctive type shooters (whatever that means). Jack- I haven't been able to determine much difference in the early wood and mag risers although the mags may be a little easier to tune to a wider variety of arrow spines. It is definitely cut more beyond center and the adjustable strike plate could also help. My son is currently shooting my A mag with 58# #2 limbs and it seems to shoot about anything he swipes out of my arrow stock pretty well and I shooting almost fourteen pounds more bow weight, lol. Each will work.  GY

I like the A riser with #3's,, Same length as the B with #1's// Lbs for lbs, I think the B with #1's might be a tad quicker, The A with #3's a bit smoother.
Only combo I have had stack problems @ 29 1/2" draw is an A riser with #2B Green tips.. I have shot white tip #1's on my A and noticed no stack or was I able to measure any with a scale.
The feel of a woody is great but the Mag riser with interchangeable grips etc, make it more adjustable.
You won't go wrong with any of them.

I like A risers. That being said I own more B's than A's...

I love them both,I can't find a LH Type1 but the A I have has the best handle of them all.It is been a shame that in the 80's they did the B riser only,because they are much better that the laminated brown.

Felix, I agree.  If Bear would have made a 'green stripe' A handle, I believe it would be the most popular one out there.
