Brace Height? Older Bear
« on: December 25, 2010, 07:56:00 PM »
Hey folks,

I have an older Bear Kodiak Recurve hunter.  It has green limbs.  It is 60" and 45# at 28".  What is the recommended brace height for this bow?

Thank you

60 / 8 is a good starting point = 7.5 in

Sounds about right. Little longer if you have trouble with hitting your arm.

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

I'd start at 7 3/4". But, I'll bet it'll shoot pretty good at around 8 1/4.

Stagetek has it right, I'll bet. Somewhere between 8 and 8.5 will probably be best.

7 1/2-7 3/4 brace height should be a good start. If the bow is not quiet and smooth when shooting or string slapping your arm bring up the brace some.
