Bear Super Mag
« on: March 13, 2011, 11:34:00 PM »
I keep looking at my 1969 Bear cataloge and remembering the SM I had.  Young and foolish I let it get away.

Anyone ever see one pop up at 45# RH ?

I believe one sold on the big auction yesterday that was 43#.  It sold for $395!

It came with a Bear soft case and was listed as a Kodiak Magnum.

I say "I believe" because I am no expert on these, but the serial number on it is 9X402 and it similar attributes of other 1969 bows (looks like it may have a phenolic riser, or very dark at least - the pics weren't that great).  Had a flat gold coin.

Colin,

You are correct. Believe it or not I can still remember when they first came out and wanting one. Something else must of come along though because I never bought it.

Huntschool,

Yes, they do pop up on the auction site from time to time and seem to bring a pretty good price when they do.

Mid 70's Model 40# It feels a little funny carrying around a 48" bow but they serve their purpose very well. I personally like longer limbed recurves 66" and 68" longbows. I have a 29" draw so minor pinch with the 48 but it zips an Easton 500 just fine. Paid $50 in the mid 90's for it.

I sold one on the auction a few months ago for a buddy of mine and it only brought somewhere around $140.  Seems like it was around a 1970 model and 45#.

I just sold a '68 SuperMag,58@28. She was a sweet shooting little bow but she sat on the rack more than I shot it so it was to time to find a new home for her

Oh man...  I am vibrating....  I bought two bows, a SK and then a SM.  Both were black 68 models.  Shot the SK better so I let the SM go...

If anyone sees one please email or PM me.  I really want one of those black ones...

Larry: is that a black bow?

Thanks for the comments.

I had two of them, but I have since sold them. They are great little bows. The weight of the heavy riser seems to really balance and calm the short little riser.

I bought a RH 43# 1969 Super Mag in very good shape here on TG a few weeks ago.  I also have a factory camo 1967 at 50# and a 1976 blue stripe at 50#.  I really like the little bows as well!

Keep checking the auction site. I've seen them there quite often.
