1967 1/2 SUPER KODIAK QUESTION

Here's a question for all you Bear faithful. A friend of mine has a 1967 1/2 Super K for sale, asking $350.00 , with condition being about a 7 to 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. He claims that it being one of bears phenolic riser bows of the late 60's that it will one day "blow" upon drawing.While not exactly a good sales tactic, I've coveted the 1967 1/2's for years and this one shows no cracks or delams. It's also only 42#. My questions are is $350.00 high for this bow and are his suspicions accurate or unfounded about those phenolic riser bows blowing up due to poor glues of the day not properly adhereing to that riser material????????.....HELP!!!....many thanx....John

LOTS of 67 1/2  SKs around not blown up and a sweet shooting bow AND still one of the more sought after being the first year of such.

Lots show "stress lines" and mine did but never was a problem, never got worse either.

Price depends on how well you like the bow BUT.......this forum is not allowed to give such info if I recall.

I would pay $350 for a decent 67.5 any day just to hang on my wall. At least twice I've bid well over $500 on a certain auction site for a 67.5-69 era Super K and both times it wasn't enough. Of course I'm left-handed, but I suspect the RH models sell for a similar price.

I do not know about prices and or value but I do know about said bows.The 1967 has the fastest arrow speed of all the Super K's great bows well balanced and fine shooters.
As for them blowing up ? yes sad to say its true they all blow up.....danger danger danger a person can be hurt so have your friend send it to bowdoc(we'll send him $5.00 towards shipping cost) and I will dispose of it so no one gets injured.I have a safe disposel system I built several years ago to put 1967 1/2 Super Kodiaks in...I  call my collection.Just kidding no they do not blow up any more then any other bows do.Fact is they have already passed the test.Time testest proven at some 40 + years old ????? bd

thanks guys.....think I'll grab it! BD, he also has a 68SK that has a delam occouring in the riser,(that he is selling REALLY right),....in 55#...just what I'm looking for...sounds like you could fix it....eh???? of course that depends on the nature of the problem...might just buy both. Sorry guys if the price thing is in-admissable on here...trying to play  by the rules! Many thanx for the info...I LOVE those 67 1/2 Supers....I'm excited....john

I paid $320 for a 69 SK 64" 47# I rated a 7. At the time I felt it was high but now feel I did just fine. I wanted that bow very bad. Just had not found many in the 64" so grabbed it when I had the opportunity.

if I was hunting and needed just one bow...it would be in my top three....Quartermoon longbow, Bow River longbow or recurve, and 1967 Super Kodiak.... a bow over 40 years old and as good as any.....
