Bear Razorhead Examples

Not sure which Forum I saw it but someone recently posted some pictures of different age Bear Razorheads for Identification and dating purposes.  Can you please repost?  Thank you

1978 (gloss and matte examples, 1964 and 1957/59.  There's also a 1956 that has a rounded end of the ferrule (not pressed like these all are).  I'm missing one of those.

If you find one with the head pinned on at the top of the ferrule send it to me and I'll give you a $50 reward.  ;-)


Here's the pinned, the 1956 and the 1957/59 (depending who you talk to).

   

And, a shocker to some, Zwickey made Bear's first heads.

I saw one of Freds first broadheads that he made himself. It was at the vintage archery show at Cabelas in Nebraska this past July. The broadhead had to be attached with baling wire. It was part of Wades collection.

If you have the bear movie collection you can see one of the early Zwickey models . I believe it is the pronghorn vid the scene where he is coming up the rise to shoot at the mulie .watch closely and you can see the wide aux blade . "looks like wings!"  I was amazed at the width of the aux blade, I thoght  "thats not a bear head !" But I watch the movies and look for stuff like that (Quiver type , bow model , and arrows )
Some one correct me if I'm wrong but werent the later heads with the gray/green coloring stainless ?

Thanks guys but there was someone who recently posted "An original Bear Razorhead" post and someone responded with individual pictures of heads marked with the the year in the corner.  I'm wondering if it was on Pow Wow.

I may have to redo this picture as the 1956 and the 1960  look to be about the same. However if you put them side by side you can see the outside curve of the vent is different.

You may need a magnifying glass to see them, but here are the other Razorheads... Giant, Pre-Pinned Exp, Pinned 4-Blade Exp, Un-Pinned 4-Blade Exp, Un-Pinned 2-Blade Exp, Serrated, Spiked Barbs, 1956 Gold, 1964 Unslotted, etc..

There are many lesser known Razorheads that are often forgotten, but are a testimony to Fred Bear's constant tinkering and inventive mind...

thanks for the pix. find it difficult sometimes to tell some of em apart. 'course i'm a serious amateur at this point. just realized by looking at these pix, that that batch of 64's i have, actually has two '60s in it. appreciate yr info.

That photograph is an old one of the Bear Display. It has grown some and was updated and re-vamped a bit for display last week at P&Y. I'll try to get a new photograph of it posted.

I plan to make a larger display case for the Bear items so may sell the Bear Display Case at some point in the future.

Was your $50 offer for the display case or the items in it?        

If there were a few zeros in the right places, I might have to consider such an offer. - Seriously, it is not for sale at any price.
