« on: April 15, 2011, 03:22:00 PM »
can anyone help me identify the year or any info of this bow?  it has #  05-13117 on it and is 50#-28.  it's my dad's old bow and would like to know more about it.  By the way,  it still shoots great,  thanks,  jeff

This is the reason I wish someone would put a digest together of all the pearson catalogs.

Not really- I think the Apex #16 was the same bow as the BP Cougar. If you post pics, maybe it can be narrowed down some.

Best I can tell is the Pearson made several models of the "Apex Bows".  I think they may have been progran bows to be sold to schoo;s.and other archery programs.  To the best of my knowledge you will never find them in a Pearson catalogue.

I had an Apex in my collection at one time.  Althought it was not a real beauty, it was a decent shooter for targets.  Very "Plain Jane" to be effective yet affordable for programs that hasd to buy a bunch of bows.

Keep in mind that these are my thoughts and could be completely wrong.

Sounds about right to me... some just said "Apex", some had a number.
There was an Apex #8 on the auction site not long ago, looked just like a regular Pearson Hunter, 58", zebra wood w/ black glass. I saw an Apex #16 recently too, that looked just like the Pearson Cougars from the early/mid 1960's. And there's an old thread at LW with pics of what looks just like a '60s Colt with white glass that says "Apex NO. 13 Ben Pearson".

So I'm curious to see what Long Shot's bow looks like... not many pictures of these bows are to be found.
