I'll be there, actually leaving Springfield, MO on Mon morning.  Is there any meeting of sorts of all the Bear collectors?

Disregard that question, I just looked up the agenda...how in the world did I not know Wade was having a Kodiak display??!!  

In years past I've seen some bows displayed with the broadheads.  Is this something different than that?

This year the Broadhead Collectors had their meeting at the P&Y / St. Charles Museum in Chatfield, MN from JUne 8-11. We just got home late last night from that event. Everyone had a great time.

Rather than the mostly broadhead collectors at Compton this year there will be many other vintage archery items on display in the building.

Just rolled in from Compton last night (or actually 3am today), 1470 miles round trip for me.  

But browsing through Wade's Kodiak collection was worth the trip itself.  Wade a big thanks for putting out all that effort.  I don't mind seeing the yearly broadhead display, but that bow collection was worth the entry fee alone.

I have to agree with you Carlos, Wade's display was the highlight of the entire weekend for me.  What a treasure trove of history in that building!

Glad you like the displays.

We also owe a very big thanks to Ken Oberschulte and Rich Saar for all of their help in building those temporary Kodiak Display Panels and for helping to put the bows up. Those guys did a lot of work in helping out.

That was the first time that the Kodiaks have ever been out of the Arsenal. Didn't quite get all of them there, as some of the panels got filled up pretty fast.

Here is a shot of Friar Tuck (aka Hink) in front of 2 of the Kodiak Panels. Friar Tuck is wearing the hat that Errol Flynn wore in the 1938 Robin Hood film, "The Adventures of Robin Hood".  Kodiak on the right panel are the 1960s, at left are the 1960 Kodiak Deluxe bows at top and the 1961 and 1962 Kodiaks below. These are just two of the eight Kodiak panels at Compton.

John Lee and Jerry Hill (nephew of Howard Hill) had some great Howard Hill stuff on display too.

We also had the Grumley Bows, the Fred Bear Display as well as many vintage items from Henry Bitzenburger and Jas. D. Easton.

I have a small collection of broadheads and this certainly gives me some great ideas. Gonna have to get Compton on the calendar next year because it looks very much worth the effort.

Chris and I enjoyed our short visit with Wade.  I brought over a couple of bows and he filled me in on their age.
