Martin MX600
« on: August 03, 2011, 11:51:00 AM »
Folks, I have a 1974 Martin MX600 that looks a a lot like a Howatt Hunter.  I have heard that Howatt made bows for Martin prior to them buying Howatt but there isn't much info out there.  If anyone has any info on MX600's I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Dave

Lon,
Larry Hatfield might be at Packwood this weekend(Are you going?) .  If so, I'll try to remember to ask him.  He'll know if anyone will.

That's correct...I'm bringing a nice Hunter I want him to sign too.

Larry was working for Howatt since about 1961 and continued on after Martin acquired the business.  Prior to '76, we all know Martin was really involved in string making and arrow production...as well as making compounds.

A little history on pre-'76 Martin trad bows would be welcome.  Common sense tells me that they must have put their name on some Howatt bows...so let's see what Mr. Hatfield can offer.
