Another Bear Gadget

Does anyone have one of these Bear Bowholders?

I've read it appeared only one year in the catalog in the late 60's.

This one is still in the box with the instructions.

Those BEAR bowholders were made around 1964 or 65 in Follansbee,WV and orginially called the Brooks Bow Holder they were invented by Lenord Brooks. I was with Lenoard when he sold the patent and all his stock to Bear in the late 60's. Four of us put together about 3500 of these in Lenords basememt one weekend and we took a car load of them to the Pa Bowhunters Festival and we sold 3. LOL. He sent one to Fred Bear and Bear wrote back and order 10 to field test and about 8 months later purchased the patent and all Lenords assembled bowholds and we took them to Grayling were Lenord signed the papers and delivered the bowholders. Seems like yesterday

Great post Dave!   ;)

I can't find it in the Bear catalog, but do you recall the original retail asking price?  My guess is $2-5...   :dunno:

What I love most about these threads, Bear1336 jumps in with an "I was there" story.  I get such a kick out of reading those common every day stories!
