Wing target bow question
« on: August 25, 2011, 03:44:00 PM »
Following the auction site over the years, I've seen three Wing target bows that look pretty much the same to me, but they have different names -- Presentation I, Silver Wing and Swift Wing. Do these represent different grades and/or different time periods?  I'm considering picking one up for some indoor target/form work this winter.

They represent different grades as well as different time periods. The presentation 1 is the earliest and a very desireable bow. The wing takedown target bows are nice for target shooting also. I have one that I shoot quite a bit.

Are the Silver Wing and Swift Wing later bows.  I think at least one is an AMF bow, maybe both.

Thanks, Horney Toad. The PI through Silver Wing look quite similar.  Might you have shot most/all of them?  If so, any preference?

I only have a P1 and T-bird, never have shot the others. Both great shooters. The picture shows similar limb design on many of the bows. I'd guess that they all shoot good. The Presentation I,White Wing, Swift Wing, and Silver Wing look real close except for fanciness of the risers.

Wing bows shoot good with a good limb design.

I have owned a PII and found it to be one of the nicest vintage shooters out there and they can still be picked up at very reasonable prices. You will not be disappointed if that is your choice.

I love the PIIs-great when you can find limbs in 55#+.   But, many years ago I found a 1954-65 Swift Wing in 62", 52#(catalog only advertised to 50#-this is an accurate scaled weight.)  Beautiful rosewood riser and a simply wonderful shooter! It's not the fastest bow on earth, but it's pretty darn good, and- boy- what a nice bow to shoot!  I don't remember seeing another 62" Swift Wing anywhere, but there must be some around.  I put it up for sale a few years ago and had no takers....I'm sure glad of that now!
