Slowbowke- I'm not sure if they prefer the continuous loop over flemish twist. It's what they came with originally.Personally I have found the flemish twist to be quieter,or I should say easier to make quiet, than the continuous loop strings.I've tried using the original continuous loop strings on some of my later 1950's and 1960's Kodiaks and found them to be a bit noisier.I switched to flemish twist and solved the problem.A couple of feet per second in speed really isn't anything that should make that much of a difference since we are shooting 50-60 year old bows anyhow.
I believe with a little time and effort, some string silencers and the proper brace height,a continuos loop string can be quieted enough for hunting.I guess it comes down to being a personal preference.A nicely made flemish twist string looks and works fantastic on these old Bear bows in my opinion.Good luck in your quest and enjoy shooting the old Bear.
