Dating the Robertson Vision Falcon
« on: October 16, 2011, 05:16:00 PM »
I am interested to know what years the Vision Falcon was made.  I found an article by the late Bill Krenz written in 2000, where he describes one he selected for a timberline Mule deer hunt. He said, the Montana Falcon was the base model and the Vision Falcon he selected was a 60", 61#@28", with Bocote riser, Bamboo laminations and Bocote veneers.

I am assuming, the bow came out in 2000 and ran until 2004, when changes were made to the limb bolt/mounts. At some point the Vision Falcon became the Vision Falcon I, and II, III and IV were added to the lineup.

Barry,Dick made is first TD recurve in the mid 80's:the Prarie Falcon, then in the early 90's the Montana Falcon was released e faster and better woods bow.It was is top of the line recurve up to 1993-94 when it come out with the Vision Falcon:Fast Flight string bamboo core and veneers on the limbs, this model remained almost of the same design up till 2004,when he redisigned the riser and the limbs and added a short riser version.I think he quit making the Montana short after 1994.

Okay, that sounds good. Do you know when he came out with Vision Falcon I, thru IV? Was that in 2004, earlier or later? I think the short was discontinued before he came out with the Vision I - IV.

His website, says bows (risers) made in 2004 and later can use the current limbs.

I had a couple of the Vision Falcons IV a few years ago.  One was a short riser and the other a long riser.  Limbs also came short and long I think which allows an archer to have a variety of bow choices.  Great bows I thought! ...and very fast.

Lon is right,Dick offered the short riser for as long as the life of the Falcons I-IV.I think it was 2004 and this serie is been replaced by the actual Fatal Styk.I have 2 vision IV one short and one long riser made in 2006.
It looks that Robertson changes name when some radical changes are made to his design.Anyway the Falcons I-IV are completely interchangeable with the actual line of fatal Styk.

Thanks, I think your saying the early Prairie Falcon in the 1980's was replace by the Montana Falcon and Vision Falcon around 1993-94, and they were replace by the Vision Falcon I, II, III and IV in 2004. Did the latest generation, called the Fatal Styk (X,Y,Z), come out in 2008, 09, or 2010?

All models after 2004 will accept the current limbs, which have more taper and are a bit narrower at the tip.

The answer to this question is to phone Yanna and get her to hound her dad until he tells her what you want to know. She may actually be around the shop a bit during hunting season.

I would send her a large bouquet of flowers by way of encouragement.

Oops, should have checked first. She spells her name with one "n". If you do get to talk to Dick ask him why his kids names all start with the letter "Y". You will get a good laugh out of it.

Never hesitate to call any of the top bowyers for information like that. They all are selective about answering the phone because they are busy people. They will talk to you if they can. The ones I have talked to have all been true gentlemen, more than willing to chat and share their knowledge.
