1957 ? Kodiak Special
« on: October 25, 2011, 10:51:00 PM »
Not quite sure of the year. Did this come with the brown (rootbeer) glass ? Back and belly ?
Thanks.
Mike

That is a great guide that Horney Toad provided. I use it often.

Although it doesn't show a profile the '57 has tan glass back and belly. The '55 and '56 had the brown glass on the belly but gray glass on the back. I've never seen one with brown glass both back and belly.

Jack - I have one Kodiak Special that has brown glass on both the back and the belly. It is the unadvertised 1957 model that is 60" long.

Mike - It would be interesting to know the length of your brown glass Kodiak Special, and the serial number. Can you post or email a photograph of the riser?

Sorry for any confusion guys, I don't have one.  I picked up a 64" 1957 Kodiak at Denton Hill and fell in love with the brown glass. I call it root beer as it reminds me of the root beer barrel candies. For a 49 # it sends a arrow downrange with some authority. Has that nice thump to it. :^)

I'm not sure of the year could be 55/56 when they went to the silk screen decal. But will try and explain.

Sow belly no double shelf. Not 100% sure but Gary L had done a cover shoot for TBM with the bow. Looks to be trimmed with purple heart. One of these is on my to get list.
THANKS,
Mike

Jack -

Refer to page 10 of this thread...

Bill had this Kodiak Special with brown glass on both sides for trade. I traded him for it in 2009...

Wade,

Thanks for the link. Rare one indeed. I bought a 62 Kodiak Special from Bill a few months before he so suddenly passed away. Nothing out of the ordinary but special to me because he once owned it.

Mike,

You still have me a little confused. Is it a Kodiak or Kodiak Special you are looking for?

Jack
