Site Regulars - Question
« on: December 25, 2011, 05:30:00 PM »
Is there a way to check on someone that is selling something on the classifieds? Specifically vintage or coleectable bows.
Like honesty or quality of service. Or is it a crap shoot. I know its pretty much a free-for-all now. Thanks for any help>
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

If it is someone that I am not familiar with, I click on their profile and look at their most recent posts. I like to buy from people who don't only make an appearance in the classifed threads. If they have been on the site for years and are frequent posters in the pow wow, trad history and collecting etc forums, that carries weight with me. Most people here, like me, find this forum far too valuable to risk losing it over taking somebody on a bow.
Another thing you can do is to ask the seller for references (other people on the site he has dealt with). Many times if it is a new person and I ask for references the seller will mention someone from the site that I do know; then I just ask that person.

Good luck.

I do the very same as Bill and have never had a problem.I have had a couple guys I've dealt with that are kind of slow, but only one that quit responding to my pm's and I won't deal with him anymore.
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

Bill pretty much said it all, I'm fortunate to have never had a problem buying or selling. I would be up front with the deal before sending and communicate what is expected ie follow-up messages, possibility of returns,  and so forth. For the most part ,pretty close knit community.

Thanks for the info guys. I read the tips on the site by Terry. Guess I should have done that first.   "[dntthnk]"
