Fast flight compatable?

I have a 1970ish Browning Explorer 2 and was wondering if I could use these strings?  Also, I know these bows are not highly collectable but do you think it would be foolish of me to rework the grip at the arrow shelf to better fit my hand? Thanks Joe.

Personally I would rework the grip recognizing that as you said there is not a big collector market for that bow. However it is a fine bow and a joy to shoot. As far as the string is concerned B 50 is the right material for the bow. FF might be OK too; but why take a risk?

Most people do not use fast flight on the older recurves, myself included. There are some that can handle it and alot that can't. I would stick with B50.

Thanks guys, The handle puts pressure on my hand in a few areas that I dont like. And I would like to lower the shelf some. I was asking about FF because of the limb tip overlays that these bows came out with.    Joe.

I used ff on old Browning because they have several layers of phenolic,but B50 is what they were carring when made and I think this is the correct string for them.Enjoy your bow!

I have a newer bear takedown that can use ff but I put a B-55 string on it and it shoots so much better. FF is a new ga
dget that created new marketing like the compounds and crossbows. A new angle to dangle at guy's trying to gain the edge. The engineering has been plenty good enough for at least 50 years. Just my view.

Lowering the shelf my affect the tiller but not sure how much or if it would make a difference.

I am buy no means a bowyer, That was going to be my next direction of questions. If I did lower the shelf by maybe 1/4 inch to put the arrow closer to my grip what if any affect would it have on the bows tiller. I have seen some threads of it being done to some older Bears.  Joe.
