String Leeches

Anyone try them on a recurve?? I picked up a package at the local Wally world for $1.50, figgured I would give them a try for that price.

I do notice some guys using them (not many) but my experience with them would lead me to say don't even bother.

It is hard to beleive they could do much good. I am going to put them on to see though. I seem to remember a while back some folks saying that they did not last very long on trad bows, for some reason.

They generally don't last long on tightly twisted strings.

I have used them and they do not last long, but I will say that they were some of the best I ever used to get a bow quiet. I took a pice of thick leather and cut it in the same shape and they worked very good.

I used them on my recurve and found that they quieted the bow but were "twangey", I like my beaver ball better because the sound is more "thumpey".  Just personal opinion but i like the dull thumpey sound over the little twang.

Like it was said they don't seem to last long on a flemish twist but hold up better on an endless loop where the strands are straighter.

I used them for quite some time, they work but are not any more effective than cat whiskers IMO.

They will eventually cut, especially if used on the high performance strings.  

I gained 2 fps by getting rid of them and going back to cat whiskers, as they are fairly heavy.

I like them and feel they work very well.Some last a long time and others don't,but I've never been lucky enough to find them for a buck fifty.  Ben

I tried them, felt they mad the bow somewhat louder than the spider legs. Maybe I didnt give them a fair chance I left the spider legs on, thought with both it would be whisper quiet. but like I said it seemed to be louder.

they work well with all of my bows, if you put them in the right spot there is no preformance lost for me.  there are several kinds one with straight flaps and one with curved the latter ones are much tougher. i have had them out live my ff string at 67lbs.

I love them and put them on all my bows I did the same and bought a whole batch at wally world for $1.50 as well.  They have lasted me a year However they do tend to break with very tightly wound strings. I rub them with Corn oil once in a blue to keep them from Dry rotting.  I dont like fur because it gets wet and heavy when I go hunting and I think that is worse.
