Ever seen one of these?????
« on: January 26, 2012, 06:09:00 PM »
Hi everyone, I came across this neat little bow and had to buy it, now I need some help figuring out what I bought. It is short about 44" or 45" and says on the riser and limb Made for Robert Elkoitch by Kachina Archery. The riser looks to be walnut and maple with aluminum brackets and a shoot through hole in it. All I can find online is there was a Kachina archery at one time in Arizona I think it was. I though if anybody would know You guys would. See pics below.

Thanks, Dan

May easily be wrong but it looks like a foot/flight bow minus one stirrup, there is an old Drake center shot flight bow on e*** right now that has the same center shot design, since there are a lot more knowledgeable people on here than me I'm sure you'll get more info.

I found A little more, you are right it is a flight bow, but a hand held I belive the single stirrup has a wood grip in it, but as far as the age and maker I can come up with nothing so far.

Yes, it is a filight bow.
It is called an extended grip, thus making sort of an overdraw bow as the arrows were real short and light.

rather than post a link to another site...do a search for Kachina Archery and there is a bunch of info in the first item. Or you could PM me.
Flight archers, target archers, and bowhunters were in their separate worlds with very little overlap. The tackle was the same in the fact that we all shot arrows but that where the similarity ended.
Just in case- I would not recommend shooting these little beasts. Many of them were very close to being one shot bows. When they fired those short, light arrows it was like a dry fire. The one I have has been broke and repaired several times.

do a search on flight shooting, very interesting to say the least. I am guessing your bow is from the sixties.

Thanks guys, yes from what I have researched it is interesting. I wasn't sure what is was when I bought it but glad I did. I now have something new to learn about.
