Another oddball Bear you might enjoy
« on: February 01, 2012, 01:14:00 AM »
Finally getting a little time to take some pics and share them here on Tradgang.Kinda help us make it through the winter(60 degrees here today)doldrums.Got this little beauty from a friend awhile ago and wanted to share it with you.I don't know if the color of the limbs will show up as well as I hope.If not I will add more pics of them side by side with another bow of the same year for comparison. This is a little K-2 static tip 1952 Kodiak.Nothing special there. But if you look at the riser you can see that it is stained a darker color than any other static Kodiak I have ever seen.At first I thought it was walnut but I believe it's just stained hard rock maple as found on most other static Kodiaks. Not only is that odd but the tip overlay wood appears different than most I've seen. And the final kicker is the really yellow colored glass on the limbs. Not caramel colored like most '52's but really yellow in color. It really stands out compared to the usual caramel color. All silkscreens are there, factory specs, leather grip.Just a really neat little bow.I may have a damaged '52 Kodiak I can try to take pictures of to compare the two side by side.
What are your thoughts?Seen any static tip kodiaks with this color glass and riser?  :dunno:

Johnny
Beautiful and very unique looking. The limb tip overlay and riser are certainly very different then any I have ever seen. If I didn't know better I would think it had been regriped but it all looks factory. Perhaps a special order for a special friend? Very Nice!

Love the way it was all stained to match like that. Larry may well be right: a special bow for a special person. Nice bow John.

Larry & Bjorn,
That was my thought too, maybe made for someone special.Up in that area of the state where it was found it was most likely a Bear employee. It is a beautiful little bow and I would love to see how it shoots at 55# but I don't want to chance doing any damage to it.It will have to spend the rest of it's remaining years here in the bowroom resting comfortably on the bowrack.

Here's a picture showing the difference in glass color compared to a regular 1952 Kodiak. The K-2 is the bow on top.
