Old string question

I have an older Bear recurve from the sixtys. It has the original string. I plan on getting a new one although this one looks fine with no wear showing but the brush buttons and string silencers are hard and cracked (one fell off the string while examining it. The string is light brown with green servings. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement that looks like the origional?

Just about any custom string make can make a replacement string exactly like the original.  You can specify string and serving color. Make sure you tell them the stated bow length and draw weight.

If the one you have is not worn bad, you should be able to wax it good and continue to use it.

I have my own source where I buy strings but I am reluctant to state is here as they are not advertisers on tradgang.

I know Jim Raines is a regular on this forum and he can make a string for you..

Len Emmen. Has an ad in T/B magazine. Good strings.

Some guy's stick with the endless loop string as that is what the bow came with and then others go with a flemish and match the colors of the bow. The choice is yours and if the string is not frayed as PAP says then rub in some good wax and string it up. I myself prefer a new string on all of my old bows and there are many quality string maker's out there who can match just what you have. I hear Raineman makes nice strings!!
