Bear Mag riser coin - plastic?
« on: May 23, 2012, 02:03:00 PM »
A few months ago i picked up a camo dipped B mag riser - that had a (plastic) coin in place that i reglued because it fell out. The back of it had a square shaped 'pin' or 'post' that inserted into the hole in the riser. The coin resembles the thicker 'non-flush' raised coins of the seventies in a gold color - but feels like plastic.

Anyway - i then got an A mag riser that had no coin - but does have the same hole - for a coin i imagine.

I have heard of repro coins in metal for the older bear bows that had recessed/flush coin in the riser.

Is there anyone with info on how to get a mag riser type coin? were these made of plastic? or is my mag riser coin a replacement knock-off?

Thanks.

I sell metal reproductions (now there are a few others doing the same) ,I think Val Sarrento made the 1st repro's, I started the ball rolling again a few years ago, the copper and aluminum coins from 1959 through 1969 are the recessed flat coins that I offer.
Your talking about what are usually called buttons, they are plastic and are not knock off's, I don't think they are offered for sale new anywhere, best bet is here or ****
Good luck and Thanks to everyone for their support
 Kurt

Sorry I think I misspelled Val's last name?

aha thanks Kurt!! 'button' it is, that is what i am missing.

So i can't remember - some bear mags had no buttons, were these the first ones? or later ones? i know the early mag risers had the bears on the latches.

cheers

Look at early bear compounds. They had the same button.
