Yardsale Finds!
« on: June 18, 2012, 10:57:00 AM »
We were in the mountains this weekend and my mother and sister went yardsaling saturday morning.  They came back and reported that one yardsale had two recurve bows for sale.

Went down a little later and they were closing up.  Asked if they still had the bows and he said that he only had one left. He brought it out and we got to talking.  Once he found out that I collect bows, he said hold on, he'll be right back.  He came out of the house with 3 more bows.

The one was a black widow target bow but I wasn't real interested in that one. After some negotiating, I was able to pick up 3 for $100.  I got a ProLine Trail Mate 60" takedown, a ben pearson bph-52 with a special high wrist grip, 55@28, and a black hawk scorpion longbow 47@28.  I already know about the pearson but am unsure about the other two.

If anybody can tell me anything about the proline or black hawk, it would help me out a lot.  Also what is the amo length of the blackhawk because it needs a string and it isn't written on the bow.

Here are the pics:

Measure the Blackhawk, on the belly side, nock to nock. The string should then be 3" shorter as this doesn't have much recurve, more like a longbow.

He was looking for around $200 for the widow and I have no need for a target bow.

Can you send me the guys contact info please.
i have need for a Black Widow Target Bow.

Your other two bows are nice, I like that pro-line. Black hawks are always good.

If you are seriously interested Two Tracks, I can send him an email and see if it is okay to give it to you.  The bow was the skeleton riser in light blue with white limbs.  It had weights, sights and other attachments.  He also had a bear grizzly, tigercat and kodiak but I was out of funds at that point, I only anticipated spending about $50 max. He gave me his email in case I changed my mind about the others.

Great Pick ups,

Personally I am a sucker for Grizzlies and Tiger cats.

I had a Black Hawk bow from Cravotta Bro's in PA. I was a quick little recurve.

Just picked up a dozen wooden arrows by Cravotti Bros, 6 field tips, 6 broadheads. Still in the original box....

Those are some nice finds buddy, I think I'd break open my piggy and get all the wood he had!

College expenses have resulted in an empty piggy bank, I am just now starting to rebuild.  Besides, he told me to stop in again if I ever decide I need another bow.

LOL, in that case(and with a Widow in hiding!) I might be a little tight-lipped myself......but I'd get back to him!
