Bear Kodiak Special target bow?
« on: July 07, 2012, 02:40:00 PM »
I'm inquiring weather anyone knows any information about vintage Kodiak Special target bows. I work at a local scout camp as the archery director and 2 years ago I discovered something with the equipment that didn't make any sense to me. The Kodiak Special in question is a 69" AMO #24 target bow. The riser is a very heavy "Bat wing" style much like the bear Polar or tamerlaine. I know it is something special but I'm not sure what to think of it. I know that sometime in the mid to late 60's the Kodiak Special went to more of a target bow pattern. The bow has white glass on it and says Glass powered on the limbs. the serial is 6F145. The Bear medallion is still in the riser and it is bronze/gold. It belongs to the camp and is not for sale but we wood like more information about it.

Your Kodiak Special is a 1966. Production of the Kodiak Special began in 1955 and ended with the 1967 model.

Any Idea how many of the target version were made and what they might be worth depending on the shape they are in?

They made alot of them, it is not a rare bow, and the worth is always what someone would be willing to pay for it if they wanted that particular year.
