Northwoods Suede Quiver Questions

I would like to know a little about the northwoods quiver I recently obtained. First question is about the extra piece of leather that came with the quiver. Is this a divider for arrows? It has two pieces of leather lace off of it to tie somewhere is my guess. Also thinking that it could be that eras idea of a hip quiver? Also wanted to know a rough year that this quiver could be. In all this quiver is in very nice condition. It honestly looks like new. I don't think this quiver made it to the outdoors very much. Any input would be appreciated.

Northwoods first appearance is in the 1948 catalog although I suspect it was available earlier. The laces and leather you referred to goes at the bottom to separate broadheads. It is a nice quiver.....and I am surprised your leather/lace thing is loose? Mine is attached at the base inside the quiver.

  Thank you for the info. The leather came in the pocket of this quiver. I now understand what you mean by divider for broadheads. I just checked the quiver, and see two small holes on the bottom for placing the lace through to tie. The laces have not been cut, they have have a taper on them for working through the holes. I suspect that they were never put through them, as there is no wear on anything.

Nice quiver! Yours is the last model of the Northwoods, which has the zippered pouch. The zippered pouch Northwoods were made in two slightly differed models.

Bear made a number of Northwoods quivers that preceded the zippered model that you have.

The Northwoods quiver first appeared in the 1941 Bear Archery Catalog.

The CD that Ron mentions does not include any of the very early Bear Catalogs from Detroit, many of which show and describe the early Northwoods quivers, and other Bear equipment from 1933 to 1947 when Bear moved to Grayling.

At points in time there were many different optional features available on the Northwoods quivers. Some models of the Northwoods quiver were extremely versatile in that they could be used as a hip quiver, center of the back quiver, or over the shoulder quiver for either right hand or left hand shooters.
