BCY D97 and Vintage Bows?

So I ordered some D97 string material for my custom long bow and a late model recurve that will be here tomorrow. However, I like the speed and low vibration of D97 on my newer bows and wonder if I can make strings to put on a couple of vintage bows.  
The first is a 52", 55# @ 28" Indian Archery Mohawk. The second is a 60", 55# @ 28" Bear 'Gainesville' Kodiak. Both bows are believed to be from the 1970's.
My question is will these bows be okay to use D97 on? I once made a string with padded loops, but that's been a while and wonder if this might be the way to go on these bows..?? Can anyone offer a refresher for adding padding to the loops on a flemish twist?

OK' first off most will recommend that you dont use the modern low stretch strings on the older bows,but if you are going to pad the loops you are starting off in the right direction, that being said.... I personally use the D97 strings on most of my older bows, I like the performance of them and I have found that they are quieter from the start. One of my sleeper bows is a Bear Tigercat 56"amo and 61lbs I put a SBD string on it and WOW what a difference it made in the bow. Practically eliminated all of the handshock and waaay faster, I am very impressed with the upgrades you get with the newer strings.JMO

Hey Rory,  found this thread to be very good in many of the aspects of using low/no stretch string material for older bows.  Since reading it I’ve tried Astro Flight on several of my middle-aged bows (not the older gems) with great results.  Padded loops are the key and it is covered well here:  http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=14;t=003428

A very divided arguement on this. I like the feel of D-97, and use it on all my newer bows. But, on my 60-70 Bears I still use B-50. They've lasted this long using B-50, it must not hurt them. I just don't feel it's worth chancing it.

I shoot d 97 on most all my bows if they are in good shape won't put on my 1959 kodiak, have one on a 62 kodiak, have them on over 20 vintage bows, with these strings shoot heavy arrows on old bows. I pad the loops to 20 with b50 to pad the loop  cut the b50 to 16" I use 2  different colors, wax the end of the d97 good then on the first 4 strans seperate and add 1 stran b50 to one stran d97 then put the bundel together ad last 2 strands b50, it takes awhile to make one, well worth it,good luck.
