What year Kodiak magnum?
« on: February 13, 2013, 07:34:00 AM »
I recently borrowed a Kodiak magnum from a friend of mine to see if I like a smaller bow.   I have a feeling I'm gonna love it.  It just fealt good as soon as I picked it up.  It is labeled 50x and after removing the strike plate it says 52.  Perfect weight.  I was curious what year it is.   It is green with the blue stripe it has green tips, a raised silver coin, and the serial number is. Ku91410 I believe.  The bow is in great shape and as soon as it warms up today I'm gonna fling some arrows.

KU serial number 1970-77. It can be narrowed down with pictures or a better description.

Two tone tropical wood riser with stabilizer bushing yes or no? Kodiak Magnum silkscreen back or belly? Green Futurewood riser with white handle overlay or futurewood overlay? Or just post some pictures.

yes on the stablilizer bushing,  white handle overlay,  if your holding the bow to shoot, the silk screens would be toward you.

Well it's 1972-75. Dual hardwood 1972. Futurewood 1973-75.

The 73-75 are pretty much alike although I have been told the position of the stabilizer bushing can determine the year.

The other years are easier to identify.

Skip,

I was told a fire destroyed many of the old records at Bear Archery. I haven't had the best of luck when I contacted the company about trying to pin point a year on some early Gainesville bows. Maybe the earlier records remained intact. The Grayling years are easy to identify up until 1973-75 which were all pretty much the same.

 Philip,

The Magnums are fairly easy to acquire compared to the Kodiaks and Super Kodiaks from the same years. Although the Type I and Type II '63s are a bit scarce.
