Diamond in the Rough? 67 Super Kodiak ?

ok..for the last few years my dad has told me he wanted a 64 inch Super Kodiak under 50 lbs..well I was approached by a guy askin if i was interested in a few bows, one of them was a camo 64 inch super Kodiak 64 inch..had to be factory camo as bow length and poundage were written on top of camo and on the upper limb the Super Kodiak logo was on top of the camo and on the outside of the limb! well I bought it for my dad, as we are tinkering with it we have come across a few things...NO poly finish (so it was either a blem paint) or a fast pull and paint) and some light separation on front of riser..anyone think this might be odd? riser doesnt appear to be rosewood..(dad hurried up and removed camo,but not before I took pics of all the markings).anything we can do help clean up the white on the riser front and limb tips?

If there is no clear coat under camo, it looks like you will need to put some finish on it, likely a complete refinish. The overlay probably came up due to the phenolic glue joints apparently not holding up really well. A gel type super glue squeezed deep in delam followed by a clamping with c clamps and a premade wood form cut to fit the contour of bow on back and belly side with a rubber cushion between the bow and wood form would fix the delam problem.

After that the white will clean up good with the requisite sanding needed before the refinish. Nice bow!

Look at the bow restoration 101 document (there's a thread on this forum on it).  Here's the before and after pictures of my 1971 Super K refinish. After sanding the glass on the tips and overlays, they looked white instead of 'yellowed'.  The glass on the limbs came out black instead of grayish color.  

Good luck.  64" super K in a good weight-----nice find.

Compare this before picture and look closely at the seperator lines in the riser. They have a yellowed color in the before picture.
