Arrow Flight?? HELP!!!
« on: December 15, 2007, 04:09:00 PM »
Just got done fixing all my arrows up and they fly like s#%*. At about 10 yards they take a noise dive ??? They don't seem to be kicking left or right.
The arrows are 11/32 60-65 wood shafts cut at 28" whith 5" feathers.
The Bow is a Bear Grizly 55lbs. I am pulling about 51 lbs. at my draw. Also I am shooting off the shelf. Any idea why they are taking a noise dive? Thanks

Check nock height? If it is too low the arrow could be kicking off the shelf and taking a nose dive.

I think it is kicking off the shelf. I just shot the arrows off anther Grizzly that I have and they shot BEAUTIFULLY. But that bow has a flipper rest on it. Thanks Again

It is much harder to tell what is going on once the arrows are fletched. The right thing to do is rip the feathers off one and bareshaft following OL Adcock method. Like Snag says your nock may be low. You did not mention point weight, nor string material.

yup,,,nock height,,,just a heads up: if you switched to a tapered arrow and your original nock height was kept from before than you'd need to retune,,,when i swithed to AD's and didn't retune for the tapered shaft my arrows dove on me also,,,

kawika b,
Did you have to move your nock point up or down when you switched to AD's?  What were you shooting previously?

The reason I ask is because I'm shooting GT Trads right now, and just ordered a dozen AD Trad-Lites.

All the best,
Glenn

Glenn,,, decided not to retune as my Quest shoots perfect when using GT's,,, AD's shot great out of my Palmer but since that bow was sold I decided to just stick with what worked. AD's went bye bye. My guess would have been it'd have to go down though?

Check nock and braceheight. The spine seems pretty close as well. I would also bareshaft some, but y acannot do it with one arrow, peel the feathers off 3 of them and than use 3 fletched ones and follow OLs point of impact method and you will see what ya have to do. Shawn

Hey Fella's got her all fixed up!! I moved the nock up about a 3/8" and they fly PURRRRRFECT!! 3 out of 4 arrows where in a 4" target at 18 yards. Shot one of the woodys with the woodsman broadhead and made fire wood with a arrow that was in the target already. Wife is mad she just got done fleching her arrows up too. OOOPPPS maybe she will get her own target to shoot in. hehehe THANKS AGAIN !!!!
