« on: February 14, 2014, 12:39:00 PM »
Hi y'all looking for info on a few old bows i've acquired. first is a colt firearms Trail Blazer has the Hartford Conn. stamp so i know its a wing archery bow number on it is C056-0189 this is the lowest number i've seen...bow is light colored wood with black glass both sides and a star inlayed maybe walnut not sure. Next is a grizzly 58" with a dark green glass and yellow stamps number is 6P10315...guys at archery store said it was a '63 or '65 but that can't be my dad bought it in '59 or '60. Then i got a grizzly at another store they say is a '69 it has slightle darker glass and green stamps its a 56" and number is 9R3325... will try to figure out how to post pics

Can't help you with the Colt. Your 56" Grizzly is a 1969. Your other Grizzly is a 1966. A 59-60 Grizzlies would be a 62" AMO.

Your Colt bow is most likely mid to late 1960's. Colt bows were made by both Wing and Ben Pearson.

Grizzly was offered in 1968 in 56" and was Tigerwood riser. In 1969 Grizzly was 56" and was Shedua riser.

Mine isn't Tigerwood, it looks darker like Shedua?

The 56" Grizzlies were 1968-70. Frank's would be a 1970 with the KR serial number starting that year. The 1970 had a two tone riser with accent stripe down the middle.

That's it, I just looked again it's a 56", 53lb, two tone riser with a lighter stripe down the center, # KR27656.  Thanks Jack.
I really like this bow & took a Grouse with it this past season.

Alteredbeast, I'm not up on Bear serial #s. I wonder if there's a listing of models & #s somewhere?

Frank,

The information in that article is a good reference. Keep in mind that there are always exceptions to the rule on some things like using medallion type alone to identify a year.

Lots of great information can be found by searching the net and digging up some old post.
