My Collection...
« on: March 09, 2014, 04:45:00 PM »
This is my extensive collection, most I have no idea what they're worth or how important they are to the history of archery.  Enjoy.

Some misc take downs...  the camo Hoyt my Dad shot many times in the National Triple Crown bowhunter shoots.

And the new additions...  Some great memories shooting some of these with Dad, the majority I have no idea where he obtained them or what they even are.

The ones I actively plink with...  poorly.
Groves Spitfire
Browning Nomad Stalker
Herters Model Perfection 56 in
custom longbow out of SE Iowa, Skunk River company of some sort
My self longbow made of osage

Very cool there are about 5 recurves in there I have never seen and that is a tall order to have that many I do not recognize.

Looks like you have enough to start a "Bow of the Week" feature.

Good to see "Muddy" Watters in the house.

Hope to learn more about these.

Matt -
You got me thinking about making an illustrated collector's guide for my son before I waste time making a "bucket list" for myself.
Never worried too much about inventory for insurance, but I can see how your dad's knowledge of your collection will be hard to get from a bunch of online strangers.
Take your time with this!

Tony

Believe the 5th one in from the right in the 3rd photo is a Wilson Brothers Black Widow.

The one on the left, dingy colored with green fronts, is an American.  It's a monster, 70#

The one from the right, lighter colored, has a couple stamps, no distinguishing marks otherwise.

Very nice!  Congratulations!  Great idea (and fun) to research these as best you can and make a book to describe them.  Just don't become too discouraged if your son doesn't take to it, or not right away.  It's still really cool, and he could warm up to it years down the road.

I'd like to see the site window side on these (or maybe I am just and "old bow junkie" and want more pictures to look at !!!  LOL)
