Found my Thunderbird
« on: May 26, 2014, 03:37:00 AM »
I happened across this highly laminated beauty last year. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw St. Charles Thunderbird $100 in a local paper. I've always dreamed of finding one these rare birds!!

Thanks! Here's a couple more pics. It's good to be lucky for sure...even if there's long waits for it to come back around.

What a beauty! Love what Glenn did with that riser. You lucky dog!
Nice find!! Suzanne has one for sale but I think it is more than 100 bucks!

Horney, Glenn made those in 1953 just prior to joining Bear.

The 229 means it is number 229 out of the original 300 or 350 Mr St Charles made. It is a 43 lb draw at 28 inches if I'm reading it right...

I was told by Jay there was a total of some 300 made; 250 63" and 50 66" bows and  those numbers are probably approximate.

I would like to see the profile of that bow strung! A 66" bow with 43#'s and that glue up would be sweet to say the least. He certainly made a nice bow back then and yours is especially nice...... Again, Lucky find!!
