Kodiak and spring arm quiver
« on: May 30, 2014, 11:16:00 AM »
I have a spring arm quiver that fits on my 69 Kodiak Hunter. Over the years I have been reluctant to put it on as it seems to mar the finish on the limbs. Well and then there is the fact that it seems to make a lot of noise. The noise aside, would using it on the bow hurt the bow over a period of time?
Regard’s,
Jim

It won't 'hurt' the bow but it will 'hurt' the finish as you observed, and then there is the noise factor because the fit is not perfect. The newer strap on quivers, while not period correct, work much better.

It will mar the finish, but it should not hurt the bow.

When using a double spring arm quiver I put two loops of electrical tape around  the hooks of the quiver... I had no appreciable Marks on my finish and the bow was very quiet with it on...

You can quiet those down.I used to put a small wrap of moleskin on the wires that came into contact with each other, put blue Loctite on all screws and filled the gap between the two aluminum plates that attach the gripper to the wire frame.

I slide two pieces of bike tube down the limbs where the hooks attach and put mole skin on contact points on wire

I wrap the brackets that contact the bow with fleece mole-skin. It sticks fine, quiets them and protects the finish.
