Are you allowed to use the word compound here?  Or should you use something like c******d?

I certainly do not set policy of this very fine forum but I think it is probably a matter of context. For example: "I failed to use a safety belt and fell from my stand getting a compound fracture". That I believe is acceptible use of the word compound. otherwise, I think it is c#@!!*&d.
