Polar age ?

Just picked up a Bear Poar off CL. The bow looks to be in good shape but dirty. Came with one of the Kwikee 4 arrow quivers with no hood (hard to believe that folks actually used those) and 3 arrows with broadheads
Anyway, it is 64 inches and 40 lbs serial number is 17N12
It has a brass coin that looks to have been painted brown. Has white glass.  
I figured for $30 bucks it was a good deal.
Any help on the age would be appreciated

Based upon "brass coin" and the serial, My guess is 1963-64.  

I believe there's a thread somewhere that ID's the Polars, so a search could turn that up.

...and if it shoots, $30 is really a good deal.

Cleaned it up with some Meguires Mirror glaze polish and a few coats of paste wax and put a new rest on it. Looks like a different bow now. Went ahead and shot it a few times with the old string. Shoots good, very quiet bow.
The string that came with it is white. I wonder if anyone makes white Dacron strings?

Early Polar ID Guide  

Yours should be an early 1961 Polar.  They started off as a 64" bow before being offered in 'his' and 'her' lengths

Jeremy, was the coin not aluminum in early '61?  

Of course someone could have exchanged the coin along the way...and I see you know these Polars as much as anyone.
