Rosewood

Trying to determine when Rosewood appeared in composite bow handles.  I believe you'all with catalog collections might can help pin it down some.  I have evidence it was used by 1959.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

Bear made an awful lot of Kodiaks in 1959 and all of them had quite a bit of Brazilian Rosewood in them...still I have a feeling there were other bow companies, Damon Howatt comes to mind, who used it before that

I just found a post by Larry Hatfield about the first bow he ever built...he built it for his wife in 1958 and the riser was Brazilian Rosewood

The center lamination of the 1958 Kodiak Special I-Beam riser was Brazilian Rosewood.

The is a great thread about this on another sight. Several authors there suggest that Harry Drake's bows had rosewood in 1954.

The 1959 Bear Polar semi-recurve had rosewood in the middle third of the riser (and carried through the sight window).
