The postman cometh......
« on: February 24, 2016, 01:48:00 PM »
So I had been dreaming of a Bear TD since I first saw one back in the early 80's.  Two weeks ago I finally got the wife's buy in, and set out in search of one to call my very own.  Knowing that my draw length is 30, that ruled out an A  riser,  and limited me to B or C risers with number 2 or 3 limbs.  I fully expected that I would only find the mag risers in my price range.  In my search for a mag riser, I ran across a type 1 C riser with #3 limbs in my price range.  I'll try to post pictures as soon as I figure out how.

That's great Richard, congratulations also! I own 2 C Risers, a Type 1 & a Type 2. They both have their original #3 limbs but I have a set of RER #2 limbs on my Type 2 and they're great. Looking forward to pictures of your "new" bow. Also curious as to its serial number. My Type 1 is #1131 & my Type 2 is #2403.

Well, hopefully those work for you guys.  I'll be removing the sight on my next day off.  And will put the screwss back in until I can have the time time fill the holes correctly.

Nice!  I actually just bought a new to me C riser  that I'm waiting on to arrive via mail.   Yours looks pretty minty.

Pretty interesting to me that there were fewer of these built than the original woody A and B handles and yet they are still selling for considerably less.

Congrats on a nice score.

Thanks dnurk.  It is one heck of a sweet shooter, and the smoothest draw I've ever felt.  I still haven't figured out the right brace height for it.  Anybody have any ideas of brace for a couple riser with number 3 limbs?

Hey Richard. Glad to hear you're enjoying it.  Mine just got here last Friday and I finally got to shoot it today.

I started the brace height at 8.5" and am slowly working up. Right at 8.75 now and seems pretty solid.  Might go up a bit more and then back down before putting some yarn silencers on it.  It's not super loud and I know it's a target bow but I still prefer less noise over more.

Need to figure out some arrows for it too. Shooting my wife's 700 spine carbons and flight is Ok but I want to tune some aluminum ones for this.  What are you shooting?

Need to post some pics too

just saw this.  i am shooting VAP V3 in 600 spine, full length, with 125 grain tips.  glad you finally got yours.  i thought about going aluminum, but haven't figured out a good place to start with them yet.  i think maybe 2013s cut to 30.5 would work for me.  i'm running about an 8.75 brace height right now. i've gone all the way up to 9.5, and it didn't seem to effect my impact point from 8.5, so i untwisted back down some and left it there.  what weight limbs did you get for yours?

Sorry...missed your response as well.

I ended up staying at 8.75 on the brace height.  An absolute pleasure to shoot mine. Although with the tiny flipper rest I have to keep a really relaxed string hand (shooting a glove 3 under)

I'm shooting full length 1916 shafts with 125 grain points and they are flying well. There is a 3d shoot at my local club this weekend and I'm thinking about taking it just for grins.

My limbs are 33# @28 and I draw about 29"

Absolutely love the big C wood riser takedowns.
