Fred Bear on the coin
« on: March 11, 2016, 01:45:00 PM »
A friend has a Bear Grizzly and he says the coin has Fred's face on it instead of a Bear. Any info on these bows, year, value etc. would be appreciated.

In his book on Bear bows, Choppen stated these coins were used from 1998-2003 and often referred to as "Freddy Kruger" coins.

If you've ever seen the movie "Nightmare on Elm Street", you got the image.  I agree, but cannot believe it took the company that long to dump the coin since it was dreadful.

As to value, probably the same as any other similar Grizzly since I've not heard or read of collector interest in those.

My Bear Montana has that coin on it. Pretty sure I bought it in 1998. Maybe someday those era bows will be a little more desirable.

I'm a big Fred fan Lon but he wasn't the prettiest feller in the world.

Yep, I guess Tom Selleck and George Clooney would have no worry of competition.

However, I've heard Fred's personality and big feet would excite the ladies.

Ah yes, you know what they say about guys with big feet. I did meet him three different times and have a photo with him and he was a genuine man.
He had an excellent personality-always joking around. Asked me once prior to hunting season if I had my buck ready and tied up in the woods.
