Tied on Adjustable nock points

OK, let me first say "I've read the how-to" on doing this, but without someone to show me, I'm just not getting it done.    

I just finished up a Binghams Projects Take-Down Longbow and want to tie on a (adjustable) nocking point to make tuning easier.  Every time I've tried this, they won't adjust.  :mad:  

I don't know if I'm making them too tight or what, but they just won't adjust for me.  :confused:  

I've tried dental floss and B-50.

Anybody have any advice?  Somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong. Any and all input appreciated.

The alternative is to put a brass one on there and move it around with the pliers.

It may be to tight and if you are gluing the final knot it may be glued to the string.
To adust you need to twist it up or down - you may know this already- sorry.

Try waxing the center serving before you tie the nock points. I put a drop of super glue over the last two knots, the wax will keep you from gluing to the string. I also use small diameter serving material for my nock points.

Use #4 nylon serving or fast flight serving I think it works better

I didn't use glue on it.  Knew that would lock it in.  Not sure about the tightness.  I've tried it three times so far with no success.

I'll try waxing.  I'm willing to try anything right now.  I'm still not willing to use glue, though.  It scares me.

I don't have multiple types of serving.  I've got nylon, but not sure about size.  I'll check it tonight.

Keep the ideas coming guys.  I know this has to work, I just haven't figured it out yet.

I always tune without any nocking point.  I just mark the string with a black marker, then when I find the right spot, I serve it with dental floss.

My nock points consist of 12 overhand knots,6 over and 6 under. The more knots you tie the harder it is to adjust. Hope this helps.

I do mine like JSC, it will twist up and down the serving. It takes some pressure though, usually makes my fingers sore but doesnt slip on its own.

I use sewing thread. Just tie over and under the string till its builds up to a small ball then coat with superglue gel.

I use b-50 and no glue. I make the knots a bit tight, and at first it's a bear to get the nock to move. Once you get it to turn it will be fine from then on.

I use number 4 nylon and no glue also till the end.

Basically start at the bottom and work up towards your top limb.

Over hand, then opposite side over hand.  I like to go 5 or so on each side.

The trick is in the finish.  Instead of a single over hand, do a double on the last, not a square knot but two turns through before pulling it tight.  Leave your tags 3/16 to 1/4" or so and burn them.  Once they start to melt and catch on fire, with a wet finger, stroke them down into the nock.   I then ever so lightly go over the nock with the lighter real quick to help bind things together.

 I do after this and once it's set where I want it, hit it with duco to help keep from wearing it out and to lock it where I want it.  

Becaure you dont tie too tight or you cant turn it to move it up and down to adjust the np heigth.

Pretty simple really.  If the tags come loose  reheat to melt them and rubb them in again one at a atime.  

If it doesnt make sense I'm sure I can do a tutorial for ya.

I cut 2 short pieces of serving material, and put it agianst the string and tie the adjustable knot around them. Just pull them out when done (gotta use pliers) and that gives me just enough freedom to move it.

Don't pull the knots very tight, just snug them. Then burn the loose tag ends and hit the whole thing quickly with a match. Practice:)

That sounds like a great idea.  Didn't get to work on it last night.  Too many family obligations, but I'm off work tomorow.  I'll be tying one on (no pun intended) tomorrow.

I use a brass nock to tune and when I'm happy with it, I replace it with two tie on nocks.

I too have tried the tie on adjustable nock point. I tried it twice the first one will adjust, 6 top and bottom. the second will not 6 top and bottom. The only difference between them was the amount of force I tied the knots with. As you may have guessed the socond one I really pulled them tight to make it look finer.

Lesson learned there is a fine line between tight and to tight.
