2 very old bows that I need information on
« on: November 24, 2016, 07:41:00 PM »
So I came across 2 traditional bows in the attic.I was hoping I could get some help with the value of what they are worth. One is a a bear alaskan from 1953. The other is a bear grizzly from possibly around 1976.       pics of bows

The Alaskan looks like a 1959/1960.  Does it have orange glass on the belly and black on the back?

The other bow is post 1972.  I don't keep a mental inventory of anything past about 1968 so I am not sure but will hazard a guess at 1975 or so.

They typically bring $100 or so for the Alaskan and $150-$175 for the Grizzly.  I have one of the Alaskans and they are a fun bow to shoot.

Thank you. And yes. The Alaskan is black and orange. It says 1953 on it so I thought that was the make date.

I have that same Alaskan and I use it bowfishing. Great bows. I agree it looks like a 59-60

It's a 59/60.  Have one just like it.  The black/orange is informally called the 'Halloween' Alaskan.  Great bow.

1953 is the patent date.  Very common for folks to think it's the birth date since it's printed right on the bow.

Enjoy!

Attics are hard on bows. Gets pretty hot up there in some.

Check them out carefully before stringing them up
