Posting images on Tradgang with an iPhone. 12 easy steps
« on: February 08, 2017, 07:21:00 PM »
1. Get the free Photobucket App

2. Pictures can be taken with your iPhone.

3. Open the photobucket App and look for the little black circle with a + sign in it. Click that

4. When you click that, you will have a small menu pop up. You will have the choice of using your phone to take a picture or you can choose upload to access your phones photo library. (I use my library because I can take a pic and edit that picture in my library easily)

5. Click on upload and that will give you an option to use your camera roll

6. Select the image or images you want to upload to photobucket by clicking on the pictures

7. next look at the top of your screen and click on the word NEXT

8. That takes the image back to PB where you can select where to store it. I put them in "your bucket"

9.once you select where to put it click on that and look at the top of the page again and you will see UPLOAD

10. Once they are in photobucket you can just click on the image you want to share and at the bottom of the screen there is a little circle with an i in the middle. Click that

11. A menu will pop up asking you what kind of file you want to share. Choose IMG, click on the link to the right of IMG and you'll see the message "link copied"

12. Once you have that link copied you can paste it right into the post you are making here on Tradgang.

Sounds intimidating but it is very easy and once you get the hang of it you'll want to share everything you have.

I'm no computer wiz. If I can do it anyone can. And that's not "hearsay" that's a fact.

Hope this helps

Thanks Trap, but I have hundreds or maybe thousands of photos cataloged on my computer.  I don't have nor will I have a smart phone.

It takes me about fifteen minutes just to log into photobucket and get past their popups and other crap.  Then, since I am on the premium plan from Hughesnet, with blazing speeds approaching poor dial up service, it takes probably ten more minutes to upload a handful of pictures.

I am a member on several other forums where if you want to upload a photo you click on "upload photo" from computer, scroll through your pictures and highlight the one or series of pictures you want to upload.  then click o.k. and you are done.  It is simple and quick.  I can't begin to count how many hours I have spent jumping through the twelve easy steps to upload a picture on Tradgang.  It isn't hard, but it certainly isn't easy.

When the powers that be can streamline the system to compete with other forums, I believe that we will see a lot more interesting posts on Tradgang.

Brad. I'm sure between trap and I we could get a photo posted if you want.

I agree Brad, it is cumbersome and I know how easy it is on other forums.

I just put these instructions up there for those who might not know how.  It took some trial and error for me to figure it out for sure. Just trying to shorten other's learning curve.

It is not too terrible if a person likes to store photos on one of the photo sites.  Once they are there it is just a matter of opening two tabs on the computer and logging into both Tradgang and your photo site of choice.  A little jumping back and forth from one site to the other and you have your photos added.  This is slow but o.k. if you have a planned presentation that you want to post.  Where the present system is such a killer is when you get onto a thread and somebody says something like "post up a picture of your ....."
Well, if you want to post a picture of your ....., you have to go through a twelve step program to get it done.  I sincerely think that this is one of the main reasons that we are not seeing the level of activity on Tradgang, or the quality of posts, that we saw five or six years ago.  Remember how we put up with dial up internet when that was all that there was?  I hold no malice or ill feelings toward this website or its owners but it is comparable to a situation where gas is priced at two dollars on one corner and three dollars on the other corner.  The owners of the three dollar gas station have an argument that they have huge tanks with much more high quality gas than the station across the street; sort of like some of the arguments that I hear on this site.  I have to agree, there is some really good stuff in the archives here.  But we are not adding much to the archives lately.

Thanks Trap, but if I am going to go thru a 12 step program I am going to stop drinking.

Guess after buying an iPhone, I'd have to learn how to turn it on and use it if I wanted to follow Trap's simple directions.
