Dave, I pray for your tough decisions and know you always kept your parent best interests at heart. Mac~

Dave,

My mother got one of those "sweepstakes" letters too. Fortunately, she asked me about it before doing anything with it.

I think that the post office can filter out "junk mail" from his mail, which might keep these  sweepstake notifications from reaching him. It might be worth looking into.

I will continue to pray for both of you.

Thanks, folks.

Dad's doing somewhat better, but I learned that during the worst of it and sending off almost $7K to fictious mailbox in Israel, he opened a hidden checking account and moved his VA montly direct deposit to that account.

He's supposedly trying to move it back to the account I hold for him and pay bills from... but I know he's gone through a LOT of checks sending out these silly $20, $30, $40 dollar "entry fees" for these continuing contests...he reads me ones over the phone... ones that are so slick as to baffle all but the most objective reader paying close attention.

We've made some progress though..he is reading some of the most enticing to me... and had his phone # changed to unlisted to get away from the big money hawkers...  :)   Watch those elderly parents... our Office on Aging tells me that he talks to hundreds of these elderly folks and they all want to "do right" by their families and think they'll leave all that money behind to help be remembered well...

Keep em close... there predators galore out there!
