Prayers sent 808nate. I've felt those verbal abuse arrows and would rather take a beating with a stick. At least those bruses heal rather quickly.
Covering your back.
Remember that no mater what anyone says, your priceless, your one of a kind and people pay millions for one of a kinds. Odds are your dad has been verbally abused as well. Remember it's his problem not yours. Take care of yourself and maybe some day you'll feel like and be able to help him out of that pit.
But his bow will remain steady, and his hands will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,  (Genesis 49:24 [NETfree])

The best thing I can think of to help you is to Seek God with your whole heart! The bible says Seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and all things will fall in place.  So no matter how tough it gets read your bible and pray and let all the distractions fall where they may. I suggest studying the book of Matthew as well as Proverbs in this time of trial. God bless you 808nate!

Remember that you are created in the image of God and that you have value and worth in His sight! Seek out a some good Christian people to surround yourself with and for good counsel, fellowship, and encouragement.... John

808nate,
Hey Brother, you hang in there. Just like all these fine folks have said ''YOU'' are priceless. It matters not what anyone else says about you. GOD made you, and HE don't make mistakes. Just pray that he will deliver you from the abuse, and don't forget to pray for your DAD. Sometimes that's the hardest part, praying for someone who hurts you. But in the end it's worth it.
                              GOD BLESS YOU !

Keep the head up and remember when depression hits.  How you feel is not reality, how you feel, IS NOT REALITY.
Prayers sent.

Neat preacher on tape, Greg Dickeow says that the hardest thing is to accept Gods unconditional love for us. It's hard. Had similar updragging...not cause Mom was mean, but she had such low self esteem, she had to make it all about being perfect so she thought God would love her and us. Hard road to hoe.

Gregg also says that we can't accept God's love till we love ourselves... and I found that true.

Believe that God's love is perfect and the best part is that He gave His only son to die an agonizing death before we were even born... We can't comprehend that type of love when there was a lot of "conditional" stuff at home.

Just keep telling yourself and confessing to God that you have trouble understanding that type of unconditional love... We have few models here on earth to ever see that.

Confessing it and asking God to show you and grow you...well..it works!  :)

Guess that is why they call it "faith"... beliving in what can't be proven.

Keep the Son in your eyes. We are not defined by other mortals, but by the image of God who made us!
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!
