need help planning a paramedic graduation hunt!!
« on: December 19, 2007, 01:18:00 PM »
Well I start January 9th and the class will end around the end of August 2008. As long as I pass.... ;)  I am wanting to plan a trip for sept. or Oct. I am thinking something that will cost me $1000 or less and be a 7-10 day hunt. With that being said I am not looking for anything guided....wouldn't happen for $1000 or less anyways. I hunted elk in CO. this last sept. which was awesome but I am looking to try something new. I have hunted whitetails basically all my life, but maybe a north country deer hunt.....like MN deer and fishing....I have a canoe! I figured for my money restraint and time period of the hunt I am looking at northern deer hunt and fishing, possibly elk again, maybe pronghorn ( not sure when archery seasons usually end but I think around mid sept.). If you have any advise please help me out with suggestions or past hunting trip experiences.

thank you,

Chris

Well; I don't know why your so apposed to helping others; but intentionally hunting down paramedics at their graduation seems a little bit much. I hope you use rubber blunts and 20 pound bows!

You should do a fall bear hunt, either over bait or spot and stalk. Good luck in what ever you decide.

Chris,
Good luck to you, ALS classes are some of my fondest memories.

Things worth remembering -
(1) When the patient flatlines on the monitor yet is still able to ask you "why is it making that alarm noise?", check the leads BEFORE you defibrillate.
(2) When attempting to treat a patient for a gunshot wound, make certain the shooter is not still there.

As far as a 7-10 day hunt for <$1K, the canoe sounds like a good start. A float trip down the Missouri river or the Wild & Scenic portion of The Buffalo river in Arkansas would be an adventure.

I agree with a bear hunt. Fall bow season to New Brunswick.

Flightmedic,

I work 2 unit. The class is a 1 unit class. Barb retired but is still around. I work for Central Ohio Joint Fire District ( centerburg ) but only part-time. As you probably know it is hard to get a full-time fire and ems job with out being a Medic. I work every other 2 unit so I work every sixth day but I also can sign up for other days. I was working for private ems also but I quit a couple months ago. I have a couple applications in with other departments but I am now waiting to see if I will have much free time to work else where. My step dad is  a LT. at West Licking Joint Fire District ( pataskala ) so i will be doing some ride time there. I went to Hocking College in nelsonville right out of high school for a year and got my 240 hour fire card and EMT-B along with around 40 credit hours toward a degree in fire and emergency services. I plan on going to Columbus state after Grant's Medic class. All of my credits from hocking college and Grant's medic class will transfer and I should be able to finish my degree in a year or two going part-time. Well that is my plan anyways. Do you work for Medflight?

I tried to send you a PM but your inbox was full
