WHY? you should ALWAYS shoot your broadheads to see how they fly; and then resharpen them to as sharp as any broadhead... right?? Right??

i allways shoot one of the broadheads to see how they fly then not hunt with it because i cant resharpen verey well.any info will help

Stingers are sharper than Phantoms IMO but both are hunt ready. The Zwickey is a great head but not even in the same ball park if you're asking about out of the pack sharpness.

Stinger and Phantoms are a toss up in my experience with a slight edge going to the stingers.

Stingers are sharpest out of the package. But I can get grizzly's sharper.

Learn how to use a file and you can practice and hunt with in broadhead you like.  It just isn't that hard to do.

I don't care what the package says...You should always shoot your broadheads prior to hunting with them AND then resharpen them until they are scary sharp.

kasey get yourself a good butcher steel $40-$50 and give that a try once you have gotten them the best you can with a file. Good Luck

Absolutely right!!!
Even most replacement blade broadheads should be tuned up before hunting with them. We've all heard that "razor sharp and ready to hunt with" for so long that many of us just blindly believe it. The problem is that it's rarely true.

We also must practice with the broadheads that we will be hunting with. If not, how do we know if they are going to have the same the point of impact that our field tips do?

At least practice with the same brand, style and weight broadheads that you'll be hunting with, even if you need two sets- one set sharpened and set aside for hunting and the other set for practice.

I like to mount mine on the arrow shaft shoot them once or twice to make sure they are mounted true and flying true.
  Shooting them into a block of foam doesn't dull them much but they will have to be touched up and you maybe able to bring new heads back into shaving sharp with the butcher steel. Good Luck
