Lyme info needed
« on: July 08, 2009, 02:22:00 PM »
Well,

Last week, I had a bout with Bell's palsey. Saw my primary Doc's office and affirmed Bell's palsey but wanted to do bloodwork to see if there is a underlaying problem. Monday i got the call that the test (western blot) came back positive. White cell count thru the roof, ect. She called in the prescribtion antibodics and told me to start as soon as I get them. Tuesday she calls again and said I need to see a neusurgon (sp?) ASAP after talking to other Doc's about my test results and symtoms (chronic back pain, bells palsey, fogging eyesight, and a host of other issues). We spoke about the possibilty of a spinal tap to test the spinal fluid for severity of the infection that will dictate the appropriate treatment method. I believe I have had Lyme for years but overlooked the symtoms. Seems like everything is happening very fast now. I have a fallow up appointment with my primary on Monday and a neosurgon Monday afternoon. She wants the neosurgon to evaluate the severity of my condition and make the treatment call.

I can use your help.

I need info on late stage Lyme. From the little I have found on web searches in the limited amount of time I have had to look into it, it could be a long recovery due to the Lyme has had time to dig in deep into muscle, joints, cartlidge, ect and it will take time in order to get the infection down.

I need advise from folks who have been, and/or are currently dealing with this type of issue. Info from folks with a medical background in treating Lyme would be extreamly appreciated.

I get a gut feeling that this is going to be a stuggle to overcome but will keep looking for the sunny side of every downer that presents itself.

I'm heading out to ATAR tomorrow so I'll be without communications for several days. I'll check back as much as I can before I leave and when I get back. If you prefer to contact me directly, my email address is;

Thanks in advantanced for sharing your knowledge on what I may be up against.

If you have Lyme symptoms, do what you have to do to get tested. As I understand it, the earlier it is caught, the recovery is much, much easier. I made a huge mistake by not acting sooner. Don't make the same mistake.

Regards!

Jerry

Jerry,

Just sent you PM with a page of links I did on Google...the ALDF.com link for the association is where I learned a lot.

Charlier Alsheimers from W. NY had it BAD! He writes for Deer & Deer Hunting and does lots of photography in the field..where he got it.

It's a gnarly disease. I thought I had it for years, but so many docs do ONE type test and that is it...and many false negatives come from that test... You're lucky to have such a head's up Doc on your team!

Prayers for all to work through well. I've known some guys on meds for a year! Keep the faith!
