Another Bow Shipping Question???/Please help
« on: December 20, 2007, 02:41:00 PM »
I just sold my first bow and I am packaging it up to ship. I saved the box that I recieved it in...so I have a box. I completly wraped the whole bow in bubble wrap leaviing extra padding at the tips and then put in the bow sock. I then placed some extra bubble wrap at the ends of the box for extra padding and taped the box very well with good fiber tape. I am hoping this is adequate and I am going to ship it USPS and insure it. My main question is it it a little bit of squeeze to get the box shut......Is there any chance this could warp the limbs while the bow is taped up tight in the box? Is better to have it snug in the box so it does not rattle around or should I take some padding out so it is not quite so tight? The box was a little tough to close, like I had to keep pressure on it to keep it from opening back up, not tight in the box like I had to jump up and down on it to keep closed. Thanks for the help and input.

If it's a longbow don't worry it won't warp, but if it's a recurve your in trouble LOL just kidding.  I leave the ends tight enough so the bow won't rattle but not too tight that, I have to press overly hard to close the box ends.

It should be fine. AND your shipping USPS [good old Post Office]which is great. The next time see if you have any carpet stores around you. Ask them if they have any old carpet tubes that you can have.  Usually by the dumpster but ask! The best look at my post on page two of POWWOW and see what UPS did to a carpet tube that my Horne's Traditionalist came in.

Sounds like you did everything right, including using the P.O. instead of "OOPS".
