Monofilament serving?

Does anyone shoot a bow with monofilament (fishingline) serving and if so what do you think about it? It last forever, and gives a nice slick release, but is there a down side or effect on bow performance

I was using mono for center serving. It was tearing up my gloves. I switched to diamondback braided. Other than glove wear I liked the mono.

Problem with mono that I have is if you get just a little wear anywhere on the serving it will unwind like a spring. I like the way it feel to the hand, but having it unwind on me turned me off of it.
I use DB now and have never had that problem.
I am a fingertip shooter and have never had a problem with it tearing up my gloves...42WLA do you shoot a deep hook?

I shoot from the first joint. It was really putting deep grooves in my gloves. I was shooting a 56# HH Big 5.

I use it with a saunders finger tap with no problems. I was wondering if it would knock some speed off the arrow?

I`ve shot mono serving for nearly 30 years and cant see any reason to change. I dont have any breakage problems, dont have any grooving problems with my tabs and it is a faster release than braided serving. You can use different poundage for different size nocks, and I like the way a two tone flemish string shows its twists through the serving. And with the right bobbin you can wrap 9" in about a minute.

Dont care for Halo, have had 3 strings made by 3 different pro string makers and the halo slipped on all of them, like mono or braided..

I've used mono for years, but have since switched to Halo. I think it's a faster, smoother release. I shoot the skookum glove.

Partial to #62 myself. Don't care for mono for the reasons stated, and also as someone else already mentioned Halo can slip for no apparent reason-especially if you use larger serving on a small diameter string. Only happens once in a while, but I haven't been able to figure out or find out how to stop it. Otherwise a dang good serving.

I started out with mono. It always broke at the most inopportune time, like in on target 10 of a 25 target course or while taking a few practice shots before heading to the woods.
Glad they came out with the good braided stuff.
